David Beaudry
Principal
Since founding the company in 2006, David has been its leader, principal researcher, software engineer and a creative force behind many of the company’s signature projects.
David is an avid technologist and lifelong creative with an ardent passion for finding new ways to bridge these seemingly disparate worlds. Over the years he has played the roles of scientist, sound designer, clarinetist, software developer, theatre producer, teacher and business owner. His career has taken him from on and behind the many performance spaces in Los Angeles, to the classrooms at Art Center College of Design and UCLA, to multimedia installations in the U.S., Germany, Italy, to artist residencies in Canada, Argentina, and the U.S.
Today David’s work and passion are reflected in most of the projects developed by b/i. His interests cross a wide variety of projects, including atmospheric entertainment for theme parks and live performance for theater, music, and dance, industrials for major film and television studios, public installations and experiential marketing campaigns, and interactive games for theme parks and cultural centers. His love for problem-solving has led to compelling innovations that make unique use of sensing technologies, specialty widgets, and custom show-control software.
David earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from University of Virginia, as well as a Master’s and Doctorate in Clarinet Performance from UCLA.
