TECHNOLOGY DESIGN ASSOCIATE
Beaudry Interactive (aka b/i) is an award-winning experiential design studio based in Los Angeles with a focus on interaction design and the creative use of technology in placemaking, storytelling, and education. We conceive, design, and develop unique location-based experiences for themed entertainment, museum exhibitions, live shows, and branded experiences all with a singular mission: provide an actively engaging environment that makes the audience part of the experience. The Technology Design Associate will report to the Director, Creative Technologies & Production and will support in the specification, procurement, configuration, QA testing, management, on-site installation, and support of all audio-visual systems, computer networking, show control systems, and computer hardware for Beaudry Interactive's projects. The Production Technologist also supports the development and production teams during all phases of a project's lifecycle, from early brainstorming and concept design, to final on-site installation and ongoing maintenance/support.
The description below entails approximately 50% of this position’s annual tasks/workload. The other half of the position’s responsibilities will be determined by the unique skills and interests of the chosen candidate. The successful candidate will have a technical/operational background in A/V & IT systems and a passion for using technology for storytelling and creating extraordinary themed experiences. This is a full-time, salaried position. Work will be conducted at Beaudry Interactive’s HQ in North Hollywood or at a client site. Must be willing to travel.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will be doing:
1. Project-based R&D and Technical Integration
-
Assist with the creation of concept, schematic, design development, & production level system drawings and documents.

Perform product research to provide technology evaluations, recommendations, and costs.
-
Participate in design, brainstorming, estimating, and meetings as needed.
-
Assist in the generation of system specifications, facility impact reports, system budgets, operator manuals and other internal & external facing technical documentation.
-
Assist with planning and setup of mock-ups & technology demonstrations.
-
Provide hands-on site installation, wiring, testing, commissioning, and documentation for interactive system installations. Travel to installations as required to support installation and maintenance of interactive systems.
2. Operations Support
-
Provide Level 1 & 2 technical support to b/i staff and clients.

Assist with management of company’s technical equipment, technology infrastructure, and software resources.

Perform other activities and responsibilities as directed by the design consulting team.
3. Identified strengths and interests of the candidate to support other areas of our core team. Areas could include (but not limited to):

Rapid Prototyping for playtesting (3D Printing, woodworking, metal working, etc)

Production Design (set/cabinetry design)

3D modelling/rigging for video games

Electronics prototyping, Arduino programming, PCB design

Media Management/Creation (video production, post production workflows)

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
-
BA Degree with emphasis in electrical, mechanical engineering, entertainment technology or entertainment design, or equivalent experience
-
2+ years' experience in a related industry or trade
-
Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment and networking/computer communication protocols (HDMI, HDBase-T, UDP, TCP, DMX, sACN, Dante, NDI, WIFI, VLANs, etc.)
-
Strong experience with computerized design programs including AutoCAD, Visio, and/or Sketchup
-
Working knowledge of current products and trends in audio, video, show control, networking, and cabling technology
-
Proficient with computers and standard office programs (e.g., MS Office Suite)
Preferred
-
Minimum one year of professional installation experience in audio visual industry
-
A+, Network+, Cisco, Q-Sys, Brightsign, Crestron, Medialon, or Avixa CTS certifications
-
Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc)
-
Working knowledge of video playback systems (Resolume, 7thSense, Pixera, Watchout, etc.)
-
Broadcast and projection experience
-
Wiring, soldering, and cable termination skills are a strong plus
-
Experience with Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, etc.
SPECIFIC WORK CONDITIONS

Work will be on-site at b/i’s location in North Hollywood mostly and remote/telecommuting on select days depending on specific tasks and the projects’ workload.

Reliable, high speed home Internet connection for telecommuting.
